My
work in new media, video and performance mines the tension
between the individual and the collective and focuses
on the role of language and cliché as the conduit of
communication between them. Borrowing and reworking found texts
from everyday sources such as book publishing, advertising,
social-networking and more I aim to explore the construction
of subjectivity through the language and behavior
that surround
us
in popular culture, often with humorous or absurd results.
I am also interested in transcription and transmission of information, particularly its compression and dissemination- who does it, how its done and who its for. This includes working with diary forms, archives, mathematical models of compression as well how these contribute to emerging notions of collective experience through networked society.
