Screen Tears (3 min 40 sec, 2008)

In an update of Bas Jan Ader’s “I'm Too Sad to Tell You” for the digital age, a DVD of the artist crying is played in various electronics shops while passers by become unwitting participants. Winner of viewer's Choice Award of TENDERPIX - Rushes Soho Shorts experimental film competition

"
Inevitably, experimental filmmaking has changed in a world where even mobile phones have movie cameras.
One consequence has been an upsurge in first-person, "diaristic" work. In a society saturated with the moving image, it is hard to make your presence felt, as Erica Scourti suggests in her distressing yet witty performance piece, Screen Tears. Here, the tearful artist stares out from one TV monitor among many in a crowded hi-fi store."
